Chubbs Zilinski
Chubbs shelter name was MiMi, and I ended up adopting her out of pity. She was a totally sweet lap cat, but she was an older cat, decreasing her likelihood of being adopted, and she was very plain-looking, too. The shelter staff didn't have the heart to euthanize such a great house cat, and I learned after adopting her that they had even given her a spot on their radio show in the hopes of someone picking her up.
Chubbs wasn't always so chubby. When she went into the shelter, she was at a healthy weight, but sitting in a tiny box for a few months will make anybody a little obese. Even though the staff took her out of her pen for play and cuddle time, there just wasn't a lot of running around to do at the shelter and she packed on the pounds. It wasn't until after she was adopted that she started losing weight, and she is now a manageable, but still chubby, twelve pounds. Ironically, she's not a big fan of treats and doesn't eat much, either.
She is an awesome lap cat, content to sit down on your legs and be petted for hours without moving. This is great in the winter because my legs get chilly and cats are warmer than blankets! We thought about renaming her now that she's lost weight, but "Chubbs" stuck.
She has a shoe fetish. She cuddles with our shoes, rolls around on the floor with them, and frequently falls asleep after piling them together.
